SGH Benefit Gala a Wild Success!

On January 18, I posted an article on the website called “Think BIG. Dream BIGGER.”  In this article, I called out a number of 2015 goals that I had for our SGH community.  One of these goals was to host SGH’s first ever Benefit Gala.  I have to admit, I listed this particular goal with a little bit of insider information….I knew we were close to securing a date and location.  However, at that time, in the very early planning stages, I had no idea what to expect.  There were so many questions flying through my head:

  • Could we even half-fill a room with a 125 person capacity?
  • Could we collect enough silent and live auction items to help us raise money?  Better yet, could we get people to bid on them?
  • Would the juice be worth the squeeze?

The answer to all of the questions above was a resounding yes!  We sold 119 tickets to our Gala!  Adopters, volunteers and new friends came.  We asked for money to support our mission and our amazing community selflessly gave!  The Gala raised $19,341.81 (after expenses)!  The sense of community was overwhelming.  We ate, we drank, we danced and we celebrated an organization that means so much to me and to the many volunteers, adopters and dog lovers that SGH reaches.  These funds, along with all other donations made throughout the course of the year, will allow us to fund transports, veterinary care and general operations!  Thank you to each and every person who supports SGH, whether it be through volunteering, fostering, or donating (just to name a few).

A special thank you to Susan Tran, WHDH Channel 7 Reporter for being such a superb MC!  You had us in stitches!

We are already planning for next year’s Gala!  We hope it will be even bigger and better than our first!  Thank you to everyone who helped make this night so magical and for helping SGH reach one of our 2015 goals!
