DOLLY - SF
Age: ~ 4+ Years Old
Weight: 60 lbs
Breed: Chocolatey Sweet Mama Dog
Dolly is back with us and ready for her second chance at forever. While we always strive to match dogs with the right homes, sometimes it takes living in one to truly understand what they need to thrive. In Dolly’s case, her previous family realized she was a bit too nervous around their younger child (age 6), though she did well with their older child (age 9). Ultimately, they felt it was in Dolly’s best interest to find a home better suited to her comfort level and while painful for everyone, we’re grateful they made that loving decision.
You see, Dolly likely never really lived in a home before. She was originally picked up by animal control in Tennessee while very pregnant and was transferred to us by a humane society partner. Once in rescue, Dolly gave birth to six beautiful puppies (which was likely her first litter) and all of them have since found loving homes through Shultz's. Now it’s Dolly’s turn.
Dolly is the epitome of a “Tennessee runner.” S joyful energy, it’s clear life hasn’t always been kind. But despite whatever hardships she’s faced, Dolly has held onto her incredible spirit. She’s goofy, playful, affectionate, and absolutely adores her humans.
She’s also strong, athletic, and a total outdoorsy girl who lives for a good game of fetch. Whether it’s long walks, yard play, hiking, you name it and Dolly’s up for it. And if you bring out the garden hose? Well, let’s just say she’ll try to drink every last drop while happily playing in the spray.
During her five weeks in a home, Dolly began to flourish with the structure of a routine. She is fully house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on an EZ-Walk harness, and is respectful of household items (with the exception of stuffed toys because really, who can resist a good squeaker?).
Dolly would love a secure, fenced-in yard where she can run, play, and just be her joyful self. If there are children in her future home, they should be dog-savvy teenagers or older who can respect her boundaries. She has done well with other dogs but tends to be more independent, and while we’re not sure how she feels about cats, we do know she’s ready to finally settle into a life where she feels safe, secure, and celebrated.
Dolly has been spayed, microchipped, and is up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives. She’s done her running. She’s raised her babies. Now it’s Dolly’s turn to find her happy ending…a place to call home, at last.

AUSTIN - NM
DOB: 9/13/2024
Weight: 35 lbs
Breed: Rescued
Meet Austin! Austin came into rescue as part of an unplanned litter, surrendered alongside his siblings after their mom had a surprise pregnancy. While his early days were spent running freely in the quiet countryside, the transition to the wider, noisier world has been a big adjustment and Austin is still learning to feel safe in it.
Austin is especially shy and will need ample time, patience, and understanding to build trust. He’s a deeply sensitive soul who startles easily and takes things at his own pace. But when Austin bonds with his person, he bonds hard. He carries quiet loyalty and devotion that runs deep. Meeting him where he’s at is key; he’s not the dog who will immediately come bounding into your arms, but once he trusts you, he’s yours completely.
Austin recently had a sleepover with a family that included two older dogs and two younger children. He was incredibly respectful of the senior dogs and adored the kids. We think he’d do well in a similar home, especially with other confident dogs and respectful kiddos to show him the way.
A home outside the city is essential for Austin. He’s simply not built for the chaos of urban life and will do best in a peaceful, predictable environment. We strongly recommend working with a positive reinforcement-based trainer to help him work through his fears and continue building his confidence at a pace that feels safe for him.
Austin may be skittish, but he is also incredibly sweet, gentle, and full of potential. He doesn’t ask for much, just safety, patience, and someone who believes in him. With time, love, and consistency, Austin will blossom into the most loyal companion.
Austin is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and monthly preventatives. If you’re ready to open your heart to a dog who needs just a little extra help but has endless love to give, Austin is waiting.
