LADY - SF & BIGGINS - NM **BONDED PAIR**
AGE: ~ 1 - 2 Years Old
WEIGHT: 47 & 53 lbs
BREED: Gentle Soul Softies
Meet Lady and Biggins, our sweet vanilla hippos with hearts as big as their underbites. When their owner could no longer afford to care for them, this brother-sister duo found themselves saying goodbye to the only life they had ever known. They packed their bags, hopped on a van north, and set out in search of a brighter future.
At their core, Lady and Biggins are incredibly loving dogs. They just like to make sure you're a friend before handing out their signature slobbery kisses. When they first arrived, both were quite fearful, but with patience, kindness, and plenty of treats, they've begun letting their walls down and showing us the affectionate, goofy dogs they've always been. We don't believe they were mistreated, but it's clear their world was once very small. New people, unfamiliar places, and everyday experiences can still feel overwhelming at times.
Originally, we thought Lady and Biggins would thrive in separate homes. But as we've gotten to know them, we've realized just how much comfort they find in one another. Lady, especially, leans heavily on her brother for reassurance. Watching them reunite after even brief separations with full-body wiggles, happy smooches, and obvious relief has made one thing clear: these two belong together.
Estimated to be between one and two years old, Lady and Biggins are low-to-moderate energy companions who are happiest splitting their time between leisurely walks, the occasional burst of zoomies, and curling up beside the people they love. They have done well with other dogs, though their history with cats is unknown. Because they're still building confidence, we think they'd thrive in a quieter home without young children, where life moves at a gentler pace and they can continue blossoming at their own speed.
They're also still learning some of the basics of indoor living and family life, but they're eager students especially when snacks are involved. More than anything, these two want to connect. Beneath their cautious exteriors are dogs who desperately want to trust, love, and be loved in return.
Sometimes rescue isn't about saving a dog from their past. Sometimes it's about helping them discover they're braver than they ever knew they could be. If you have room in your heart and home for double the love, Lady and Biggins are ready to take the next step of that journey together. They have both been fixed and are up-to-date on their vaccinations and monthly preventatives.
